Part Properties

User Interface

The Part Properties Window allows basic definition and display of properties related to the part selected. The name of the part is a user editable field which defaults to the file name that contained the geometry data. The Features, Edges, Vertices, Bounding Box as well as Surface Area contain information about the actual geometric entities that define the shape and the space that they occupy. The Approx. Volume field (by default empty, occupied upon clicking on it) provides a basic measurement of the volume that the body occupies. The value provided can be incorrect depending on the shape and as such should not be used for anything that relies on this value.
The color field defines the display color which is carried in the STP file during export. Other properties that only affect the display are:
- Opacity: Defines how 'solid' the body appears. Value ranges from 1 (fully solid) to 0 (fully transparent)
- View: Allows individual bodies to have a different display mode: Faces, Faces & Edges and Edges only are possible.
- Specular: Sets the Specularity of the body. On by default.
- Specular Power: sets the amount of specularity of the body. 150 by default.
- Emissive: Sets the emissivity of the body for display purposes.
- Diffuse: Sets whether the body is to have a diffuse surface appearance.

The Representation of the body determines if the display is to show the entire body (Full) or whether the body is to be represented as a simple box which defines its exterior bounding box. Using a Box display can be useful if several large parts are loaded but their visual representation is not of importance. The Suppressed state allows the data to remain in memory but the data not to participate in an action such as during export.
