Body Manipulations

Mesh data usually just defines a large number of facets (triangles) without any specific definition of how they are connected to each other (for STL files). Due to this, several bodies can be combined in a single file without there being a clear distinction of what parts belong to which body. The Body Manipulation tools allow better interaction with files that contain multiple parts.

Automatic Detection

During import, individual bodies are automatically detected by considering which facets are connected. Items that are not connected by at least an edge are separated into a new body.

Extraction/Deletion

For cases where different bodies are present, each body can be exported separately or removed from the other bodies thus allowing more complex assemblies to be broken down into individual parts.

Combination

The data loaded can be appended by adding additional parts and thereby increasing the number of bodies in the group.

Transformations

Individual bodies can be translated, rotated or scaled to match the assembly intent.
